Stylish Crochet Wallet Pattern

Hook:

*US Size D/3 (3mm) hook

Yarn:

Crafter’s Secret; Cotton Yarn; Size 4 medium weight; [100% cotton; 120 yds/ 18m per 70-72g] 1 roll in Papaya or Yellow

*Small sewing needle

*Large sewing needle

*Magnetic snap

*Optional: Niagara starch spray

Approximately 4.5 in (11 cm)x 2.5 in (6 cm)

HDC - Half Double Crochet

REP - Repeat

SK - Skip

SL ST - Slip Stitch

16 HDC and 14 rows = 4 in (10 cm) x 4 in (10 cm)

This pattern is written in US Terminology and Imperial Measurements.

This pattern is written in crochet shorthand. Example: "SC 1" means to single crochet in the next stitch and "SC 30" means to single crochet into the next 30 stitches.

Chain 1 (CH 1) at the beginning of each round does not count as a stitch.

Part one (Flap) is a semi-circle. Loosely pull magic circle closed to leave room for a stitch later step.

Part three, row 1 is worked in the 3rd loop on the right side (front) of the pattern. This will create a pocket.

I recommend using starch to block the wallet to maintain its shape while preventing fraying.

Attach yarn with a SL ST to first ST of Row 1 of pocket

Tie off, leaving a 12-inch tail for sewing

PART FIVE: ASSEMBLY

Using a large sewing needle and tail, sew left sides together using a whip stitch. Repeat for opposite side.

Cut 26 (2-inch) pieces of yarn strands

Fold yarn strand in half, insert hook into ST of flap and pull up yarn strand loop, pull tail ends through loop and pull tight to secure.

REP for each ST of FLAP

Trim ends and comb yarn to fray

Cut a 12-inch piece of yarn. Split yarn & use one strand as sewing thread.

Using a small sewing needle, sew on magnetic snap inside edge/center of flap. Sew on corresponding snap between rows 3 & 4 of body front.

Optional: use a small dab of superglue to glue snap in place

OPTIONAL: BLOCKING (See notes)

Spray lightly with starch. At each corner, pin down to a blocking board or firm surface. Let it dry overnight.

Weave in ends & enjoy!
