Crochet Stitches That Mimic Knit: A Beginner's Guide
Ever wished your crochet projects looked more like knit? Well, you're in luck! There are several crochet stitches that can create a beautiful knit-like fabric. Let's dive into three of the most popular ones: the slip stitch, the yarn over slip stitch, and the single crochet all in the back loop only.
Slip Stitch (sl st) in the BLO
The slip stitch is a simple stitch that creates a tight, almost invisible fabric. It's often used to join rounds or decrease stitches. When worked in rows, it can mimic a knit stitch.
Here’s How to Do It:
Insert your hook into the BLO (back loop only) of the next stitch.
Yarn over (yo).
Pull up a loop.
Pull through the 1st loop on your hook.
2. Yarn Over Slip Stitch (yosl st) in the BLO
It’s not as complicated as it sounds, I promise! The yarn over slip stitch adds a slight texture to your fabric, making it look more like knit.
Here’s How to Do It:
Yarn over
Insert your hook into the BLO (back loop only) of the next stitch.
Yarn over (yo)
Pull up a loop.
Pull through the 1st two loops on your hook.

3. Single Crochet (sc) in the BLO
I’m almost certain you’re familiar with this stitch already! Crocheting the single crochet stitch in the back loop only creates a ridge-like pattern that resembles knit.
Here’s How to Do It:
Insert your hook into the BLO (back loop only) of the next stitch.
Yarn over (yo).
Pull up a loop.
Yarn over again and pull through the two loops on your hook.
